Anoco Nakada Share Posted December 23, 2020 Kae would be able to stay low and off of the radar for a few weeks before a Syndicate snitch would find her. When they did it wouldn't be long before someone would pick her up expecting her to get into the proffered vehicle. The person that grabbed her wouldn't be particularly talkative before she was escorted into the Nakada Syndicate home and out the back to a luxurious garden where the middle child of the Nakada sisters would be standing pruning flowers. Kae would be left with the woman who hadn't acknowledged her yet. @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 Of course she had hesitated to enter the vehicle. But this was a part of town where people looked the other way. So no one paid any attention when she was bodily dragged inside. Kae gnawed anxiously on her tongue during the ride. She didn't know what was coming. Just that bad things happened to people who pissed off the Syndicate. She was sure she was either going to die, or wish she was dead. Her hear thumped loudly in her chest the whole ride until they reached the mansion. As soon as she was out of the vehicle Kae looked for a chance to run, then immediately put it out of mind - she couldn't climb a fence like that. So she ended up standing in the garden, anxiously waiting for Anoco to acknowledge her and silently cursing the man that had left her in this position. @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 "Your name is Kaella correct?" Anoco asked still not looking up from what she was doing. In front of her was a bush of blue roses that she was carefully pruning. She looked out of place in stylish clothes doing garden work. @Dragon
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 "Where is my package?" she asked simply. @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 "I lost it," she admitted meekly, "some guy took it while I was ducking the cops." @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 Anoco didn't seem to acknowledge her answer at first. Instead she clipped off one of the roses and turned around to look at the girl. "That was an important package," she finally said tilting her head. "Do you like roses?" @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 Kae had figured as much, seeing how much pay had been offered to bring it to them. Five thousand was a lot of money to hand over to a courier. Honestly, she hadn't even expected to see the full payout - but for her even a fraction of that was a lot of money. "They're alright, I guess," she answered hesitantly. @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 The woman finally looked up to Kaella. She had shimmering eyes, obviously enhanced as she took in the scrawny street rat in front of her. "Of course a person like you wouldn't appreciate them," she said simply. "You don't have much respect for anything do you?" @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 "I'd say I have a healthy respect for the food chain in this city," she countered. She was terrified but she wasn't going to go down sniveling. @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 Anoco tilted her head as a smirk crept on the side of her lips. "Good," she said simply. "Then you'll respect that you owe me for that package and its not a small debt." @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 "I figured as much." Screw that self righteous bastard that had put her in this situation. If he'd just looked the other way for ten seconds this wouldn't be a problem. @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 Anoco nodded. "Good. You'll be working for me exclusively until your debt is worked off," in no uncertain terms it was a form of modern day slavery. "Unless you think you can get the package back. Do you know who took it from you?" @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 "I didn't get a name. I was in the autobody shop off of 23rd and Legion," Kae answered. She wasn't a snitch, and she never spoke with the cops; but this was different. The prick had thrown her under the bus first. As far as the street codes went, she was justified in dragging him along, "It was barely four in the morning so he either owns it or manages it." @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 "What was the name of the shop?" Anoco asked as she brushed passed the girl to start walking back toward the house. @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 "It was Redford Auto... Works or Body, something like that." @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 Anoco stopped walking as she turned to look at the girl. "You're sure it was Redford in the name?" @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 Kae stumbled a little as Anoco stopped so abruptly, "I'm positive." @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 "Damn," she muttered her hand tensing around the stem of the rose, the thorns biting into her skin. The blood dripped down the stem onto the ground at her feet. "My sister isn't going to be happy about that. We have a tentative enough truce with the Redford's," she said. "Did he know who it was for?" @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 Her gaze lingered on the woman's hand as the blood started to drip, "He was threatening to call in the cops looking for me," she answered, forcing herself to look up, "dropping names didn't seem like the smart choice so I told him I was transporting a package for the Mojave Express." @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 After a few more moments Anoco seemed to relax her hand but not pay it any mind as she considered it. It was a bigger loss than Anoco had thought. They wouldn't even be able to get it back unless Jakeai went to retrieve it and even then it would be them asking for a favor. That wasn't going to happen for Anoco. It was lost and so the girl would actually be working off the debt instead of trying to pay off part of it by getting it back. "That's fine," she finally said as she continued to walk inside. She set the bloodied rose on a table as she passed it. "Do you have telecom implants?" she asked the girl? @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 "No," she answered simply. @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 "Unfortunate," she said as she moved further in passing one of the guards. "Go get me one of the phones," she directed the man. @Dragon
Kaella Corvus Share Posted December 23, 2020 Kae could only shrug in response. She'd been living on the streets off and on since her early teens. She was lucky to even have her thirteen-generations-old phone. @Morrigan
Anoco Nakada Author Share Posted December 23, 2020 "This is the phone that I will call you on. Don't ever ignore my calls," she said to the girl. "Its secured by our network team which means its encrypted. Don't ever call me unless I tell you to," she said as the man handed her the phone. "I assume you know how to use a phone," she said condescendingly. @Dragon
